every beautiful letdown

IMG_7437

This suck smack and swallow symphony
Eyes closed
White cornered milky mouth
Forming a satisfied succulent oh
Where pink and brown and freckles collide
Somedays this cow and calf dance overwhelmed me and leaves me counting minutes until this feeding merges with the next
A nursing mothers job is never done
Doesn't start with the sun or end with the moon
The only change is the backdrop
or scenery from the window, the chair, the shirt I may be wearing, or his, or not at all
This breast burp breast burp pattern
Can drive you mad or make you stop mid swallow or pump and leave you feeling as calm as the clouds out today with every beautiful letdown
it changes

so true Jess. It is a BIG job, but it DOES get easier. All of a sudden it is all second nature and you don't even have to think about it. I hope it is going well for you two. I am so proud of you!! You have such a beautiful way with words, my sweet friend.

I wouldn't call it hard, just demanding, but I'm so loving it

OK, so I am impressed that you don't mind comparing yourself to a cow. I tend to be very particular about the way I talk and think about nursing.

And actually, the second time around, nursing is one of the best parts of my day. I just get to sit, rock and cuddle with my littlest one

comparing, not calling myself a cow :)
feeding our young...it's a beautiful thing - and i agree, even with only one, they definitely are the highlights of my day...so peaceful and content. i'm lucky he got the hang of it quickly and we seem to have gotten our groove.
