i want to learn how to embroider

so, i saw this and i thought two things...
first, it's adorable. consider this my love letter to you, my dear.
second, i want to learn how to embroider.
i know it's simple...can't be much harder than those plastic pages i stitched as a child.
outlines of cows and flowers and shoes, with big plastic needles and thick thread.
any ideas of a good first project?

Yay for embroidery!

Have you seen the online store Sublime Stitching?

http://sublimestitching.com/

It has beginners kits and easy patterns! Just get a hoop, a needle, some fabric (any kind of fabric) and a design, and you're good to go.

I machine sew and crochet and do some paper crafts, but embroidery is by-far my most favorite craft. It's so relaxing.

I was just going to respond almost the exact same comment as Kay. Yay for Sublime Stitching! I heart Jenny Hart! She is amazing and so are her patterns. I got hooked on it when I was sick for some time, and now it is my most favorite hobby. I am sure you will love, love it as much as I do! Pick up the Stitch-it Kit. It will teach you everything you want and need to know.
