summery summer

it's seldom that i feel relaxed and refreshed at the end of a weekend,
but it's sunday night and i'm curled up on the couch - it's been drizzling outside for hours so we're sitting together in sweats,
the chilly air blowing in, and we're watching a silly movie in the dark...and i'm drinking hot cocoa, pretending it's autumn.
i wait for summer all year long...and now, on the second full day of summer, i'm already looking forward to fall...
to boots and sweaters and leaves crackling underfoot, to pumpkin bread and homemade soups...
this weekend wasn't a weekend filled with thoughts of autumn though...
it was full of bbq's with friends late into the evening, cold beer sweating in glasses making wet rings on the table, reading at the swimming pool and lots of iced tea.
it was as summery a summer weekend can be and i enjoyed every minute...and already can't wait until next weekend comes around.

two years and counting

two years ago today i became a mrs. and my life has never been the same.
i married the most patient, caring and emotionally present man i have ever met.
today he surprised me with roses and brought me out to lunch...we chatted over green and yellow curry - we were having such a good time, i didn't want our little lunch date to end.
some days it feels like we've been married thirty years, and other days i feel like it was a week ago and i'm just beginning to get the hang of this marriage thing. we have a lot of growing to do but the road ahead of us is bright and i am excited to walk this road with him. not everyone is lucky enough to marry their best friend- and today i am thankful and filled to the brim...

i *heart* feet

i like feet. i like my feet, i like my husbands feet...
there's something about bare feet in summer that soothes me, calms me, makes me happy.
maybe it's the feel of cool grass underfoot , or the way toenails look when they're all painted and shiny...
i like to sleep with my feet outside of the blankets...i slather mint foot lotion on every night before bed.
feet are made to be pampered.
on vacation, my husband kept making fun of me for taking pictures of our feet...
i shrugged him off and kept snapping away...i might not want my face in a picture but i don't mind my feet.
here's to a summer full of grass-stained feet and bright toenails. to flip-flops and pumice stones.
